MY PLATFORM

"I am running for Foxborough School Committee and I am excited to share my vision for our schools with you. I come from a family of educators, where the pursuit of academic excellence was coupled with a commitment to positively impacting my community. As a resident of Foxborough, an educator, and parent of two children who will soon be attending our public schools, I am passionate about ensuring that our schools provide the best education possible for all of our students. With my experience in education leadership and curriculum and instruction, I am confident in my ability to make a positive lasting impact in our school district.

My election to the committee will be a historic move for the town of Foxborough in many ways, and I look forward to using my position to advance our school district in the right direction- toward a more equitable and exemplary learning model for all students in grades K-12."
ISSUES THAT MATTER
Diversity and Inclusion in Education

As of 2023, 28% of our students identify as non-white. Only 2% of teachers identify similarly.

I will:
  • advocate for diverse and inclusive curriculum that reflects the cultural backgrounds and experiences of all students.
  • support the recruitment and retention of diverse teaching staff to provide role models for students from various backgrounds.
Parental and Community Engagement

Parental involvement in their children's education is proven to increase the likelihood of student success. Every parent deserves opportunities for access to information and inclusion in their students' success.

I will:
  • utilize data to identify underrepresented communities and create targeted outreach to increase parental involvement.
  • establish open lines of communication with parents and community members through regular forums, surveys, and feedback mechanisms.
  • normalize the translation of important information into accessible languages for families.
Mental Health and Wellness Programs

In the wake of the COVID- 19 pandemic, SEL is more of a priority than ever before. Our district includes Foxborough residents, METCO students, and new students impacted by the migrant housing crisis who are members of marginalized groups (students of color, English Learners, students from low Income families, students with disabilities, and/or high needs)

I will:
  • advocate for the expansion of mental health resources and support services in schools, using data on student well-being.
  • Work towards reducing stressors on students and promoting a positive and supportive school environment.
Addressing Achievement Gaps

Most students of color in our district are "partially meeting" MCAS expectations in ELA and Math before 6th grade. As students retake the exam in high school, close to 50% of our Black, Hispanic/Latino, and multi-race students are still "partially meeting" expectations.

I will:
  • advocate for a transition to MCIEA and opportunities for diverse and more frequent demonstrations of learning.
  • analyze academic performance data to identify and address achievement gaps among different student demographics.
  • implement evidence-based interventions and support systems to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to succeed.
Culturally Competent Teaching Practices

Our schools should be welcoming and inclusive environments for students of all backgrounds. I will work to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our schools by supporting programs and initiatives that celebrate our differences and foster a sense of community.

I will:
  • promote professional development for educators focused on cultural competency and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • implement programs that foster an inclusive environment for students of all backgrounds.
Advocacy for English Learners

Foxborough Schools are fortunate to educate a diverse group of students who come from various countries and cultures from around the world, bringing language as an asset to our learning spaces.

I will:
  • advocate for continued priority and funding for the growth of our English Language Learners programs.
  • support the implementation of permanent regular parent-focused adult English Learner class offerings.
  • use personal educator networks and partnerships to add support for ELL program leadership.
Data-Driven Decision Making
I will:
  • Promote the use of data to inform policy decisions, assess effectiveness of educational programs, and track progress towards educational equity goals
  • Advocate for transparency in sharing relevant data with the community to build trust and accountability
  • Support the implementation of equity audits to assess school community needs.
Inclusive School Policies

According to 2022-23 data, 30% of the Foxborough HS suspensions were students of color, and almost half of those suspensions included other minority qualifiers (low income, students w/disabilities, high needs)

I will:
  • advocate for policies that explicitly address issues of discrimination, bullying, and harassment, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • use data to identify and address disparities in disciplinary actions among different demographic groups.
